The school uses Bug Club as a resource to support the teaching of reading skills. This award-winning, blended literacy program delivers clearly defined learning outcomes for the Australian Curriculum: English and caters for all primary students with reading levels 1-30.
The range of components in Bug Club addresses the literacy needs of all schools, whether traditional or technology-driven. The engaging and finely levelled fiction and non-fiction guided readers, comics and graphic novels make up a database of over 335 titles available as printed books or as eBooks accessible through the innovative online platform. Bug Club Digital extends students with over 1,500 interactive online quizzes and fun games embedded into the books. Educators are supported with easy book allocation, automated assessment and quick and easy reporting tools.
Bug Club also includes its own specifically developed books for phonics. Phonic readers allow students to learn and apply phonemes and graphemes, and segmenting and blending. Phonic fiction readers are enjoyable stories ideal for boosting students’ confidence when practising and consolidating phonics skills.
